Blues and Rock Guitar LessonsThe Blues is a great style of music to learn and play - it's emotive, it's expressive, it's exciting. And it's relatively easy to get started - with a few chords and a scale, you can start playing chordal accompaniments (comping) and noodle your own blues licks over the top (soloing).
The Blues is also the foundation on which rock guitar is built - so if you can play blues well, playing rock guitar solos such as The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Hendrix, or even heavy metal solos such as ACDC or Metallica is a simple step as the techniques and scales are the same. Of course, mastering the style can take time!.. But it is possible to make huge improvements in your blues playing very quickly if you have access to the right information, tuition, and environment. We run one-to-one lessons as well as fixed-length programmes and band workshops. It's of huge value to play with others, and we encourage students to move between lesson formats to get the most benefit. Topics I will cover in blues tuition include:
Lessons are available in several formats. One-to-one TuitionThis is the traditional way of teaching guitar and the benefits are that you get a lot of personal and targeted feedback, as well as being able to choose exactly what you want to play. If you have specific personal aims and goals, or questions that you feel you need answered and addressed in a personal way, then 1 to 1 Tuition is the best way.
Double/ Triple LessonsThe double/ triple lesson format is good fun and for some students it will be a better option than 1 to 1 tuition as it more often accelerates your learning. Especially for blues players, double and triple lessons offer great access to a tutor combined with all the benefits of a social lesson, such as - peer support and expectation, improved rhythm development, and practice playing with other people.
